Re: Paper I Bonds no longer available in 2012

We are definitely getting off topic.  But I can't resist.  They also can't get at OJ's indexed universal bloated life insurance policy.  Or even better, when OJ stashes his billions money in a foreign trust, and OJ dies, and then OJ Jr dies (the beneficiary), ownership could no longer be connected t...

Re: Paper I Bonds no longer available in 2012

It does have a legitimate business purpose.  The business manages the investments of its members.  Which may or may not be one person. You are not "hiding" your assets.  In fact, if you did something wrong and tried to "hide" your assets it could be considered a fraudulent transfer.  Which would all...

Re: Paper I Bonds no longer available in 2012

I don't think you would need to pay corporate tax.  Keep in mind an LLC is just a legal structure.  You can "choose" how you want it to be taxed.  For instance, I have an LLC that is taxed as an "S Corp", I have another LLC that is taxed as a proprietorship, and I also have another that is taxed as ...

Re: Paper I Bonds no longer available in 2012

Update: Treasury direct seemed to have no problems in letting me do $5k Personally, $5K for my wife, and $5k for one of my LLCs. I also went to the bank for $15k in paper I Bonds.  The girl behind the counter was very hesitant at first.  But when she called downtown they apparently told her "as long...

Interest discussion here: http://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=74369 and someone who said they called and was told so here: http://www.savings-bond-advisor.com/treasurydirect-now-allows-entity-registrations/ "Hi Jeff - I confirmed that the paper/electronic limits are separate for entity r...

Re: Paper I Bonds no longer available in 2012

Since as of 2009 they allow entity registration as well, so if you are looking to raise the ceiling can't you just open up several LLC's with different EINs?  I think you are allowed $5k PER ENTITY.

Re: Battlefield 3

Actually, the carry-over must be there somewhere.  The military actually (in some instances at least) actually finances the video games.  "America's Army" comes to mind. I remember reading years ago that the military helps fund some of these games either directly or indirectly because let's face it,...

Re: Super-Early Retirement Poll

I figured out the retirement "number" I would need at age 26.  I told myself, if I can ever make $X amount I would quit working altogether and enjoy life.  I hit that number at age 30.  I'm now 32 and I am still doing pretty much the same thing I was in my late 20s.  Old habits die hard and nothing ...

Re: Purposely Buying/Storing Fake Gold Coins

Get a cheap sentry safe and "hide" it in an obvious spot.  Get yourself a really nice jewelry box from your wife/girlfriend.  Buy yourself a bunch of different size/shape assortments of cubic zarconia loose stones.  Put them in a couple small baggies, put the baggies in the really nice jewelery box....

Thanks guys.  Especially MT, you confirmed my fears.

TripleB, you can usually find the prior years books and practice exams on ebay and amazon "used and new" for $100.
