Election Day/Night Open Thread
Texas, Hawaii, Washington state, and Montana had already exceeded their total vote count from 2016 before the polls opened today.
Edit: It probably should be noted that of those four states only Texas might be in play. The others are not in doubt.

How will everyone be following it?
Of course I will be following it on C-Span. And, online, probably 538.

Re: Election Day/Night Open Thread
I will probably turn the TV on around 7 or so when the first polls start to close. Need to check the batteries on the clicker. I can't remember the last time I had the TV on.
Edit: It works. Life is good.

"The clicker." That one really caught my funny bone. Maybe because it's something I would say.

Clicker
Haven't heard that since my grandparents years ago. Is Ad an elderly, or do the elderly just exert overwhelming influence on Florida culture?

My drivers license says I was born in 1966. But my soul was wondering around 200 years earlier. It remembers the good old days.

I only shave my neck once or twice a week.
Re: Election Day/Night Open Thread
I used to once a week trim my beard down to almost nothing and shave the face area under my eyes and the back of my neck. Since mid-March when I've been home not a hair on my body has been trimmed anywhere. This is by far the longest beard I've ever had in my life...and I've had one in some form since 1977.Ad Orientem wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 1:32 pmyankees60 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 1:24 pm1966!!!Ad Orientem wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:56 amKriegsspiel wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:53 am Clicker![]()

In the last 50+ years I've only one year shaved on a daily basis. That was my prime motivation for growing a beard in the first place. As soon as I got the college the daily shaving went out the window.

Re: Election Day/Night Open Thread
I had to go to a new place to vote today.
The local vocational / technical school.
I used to play softball on its fields plus played basketball one year in its gym. But both were in the 90s and I don't think I'd been there since.
Therefore I was rusty on where it was and the best route to get there. I ended up taking the long way. On the way back I took the shortcut.
On the way back it was 4.1 miles from my house. How far do each of you travel to vote?
Prior it had been in this not large room located inside a place where seniors live.
This time it was the gym. Much, much, much larger setup. Way more going on and way more inside than the prior location.
I walked right in. No line like usual. A woman came up to greet me and brought me to where I gave my address. The next woman doing this asked me to verify it was me and I told her to ask the guy next to her who'd recognized my voice to verify me!
Then I was given a strange looking ballot! Not the traditional one we filled in with a pencil and then put in that ancient crank box.
We now have machines!!! I was totally shocked! I asked for how long they'd been doing this and they said the last three elections. I know I missed some kind of election in September but I had not missed any others.
Marked my votes, put it in the machine, and I was out. Extremely fast just like every other year. I've been living and voting in my town since 1978 and can never remember a line once.

Re: Election Day/Night Open Thread
My in-person voting experience on Sunday was kind of unexpected, too.
Nobody asked to see my photo ID. I had to provide my name, address, date of birth, phone number, and signature. The woman then handed me a ballot that looked exactly like my mail-in ballot. As in identical in every way.
After I filled it out in the booth using a marker, I was directed to drop it in a cardboard box with a slit cut in the side. I didn't see any machines anywhere.

I walked to mine at about 0900, it's about a half mile away. I passed someone leaving as I was walking in, then I was the only one in there voting. I gave them my ID but the lady said I didn't need it. Filled out the ballot with a pen, dropped it in the machine that looked like it was tallying up the ballots, and left. An attractive black chick with a Trump mask walked by me on my way out the door. Then I walked to the library and the gym. Most everywhere I go here is within walking distance.

My bedtime is normally 7 p.m., so tonight is going to be a regular prom nite for me. I'm tuning into Greg Hunter, who will be broadcasting live beginning at about 8 p.m. EST -- any time now. I really enjoy him.

Asking due to multiple instances of slurred speech of incomprehensible words this week and introducing his granddaughter to the crowd as his dead son who the crowd helped vote into congress.
I assume Biden is pharmaceutical pilled up to be barely coherent and 10 weeks is a long time for an 80 year old man with dementia.
There is no constitutional provision for declaring a president-elect mentally incapacitated.

Re: Election Day/Night Open Thread
So far the map is filling as expected with the exception of Florida. Trump needs Florida badly and it's trending his way with about 90% of the vote in. There are limited opportunities out there for Biden to make up the ground.

I have no idea what I'm looking at on these maps. They're saying states are confirmed for whoever with like 1% of the votes counted, they have them leaning towards one of them. This happens too infrequently for me to get it. Not even drinking tonight, which makes it much lamer than it was last time.

Re: Election Day/Night Open Thread
A number of states are known based on exit polling and the like, that they are just a given for one side or the other. California is going to be called for Biden the minute polls close.
