I agree, BC should make a short appearance, perhaps as someone that dies early in the film just for comedic value. You're right about the tone - it seems like a serious horror flick now. If you ever want to spend a fun evening watching movies, I recommend watching Mad Max, Evil Dead II and then The Road Warrior. I did that once unintentionally and it was great. They all go together well.
