PRPFX vs 4x25PP year to date returns

Post by gonetowindsurf »

If my figures are correct, It appears PRPFX is well ahead of PP in year to date returns. About 5% better.
Is it because it has less Treasury holdings and a hot sector component?

My guess, and it is only a guess, is that the silver component of PRPFX has boosted its return.

Doesn't PRPFX hold about 30% equities vice 25% in the HB?  That plus the Silver probably explains most of this.

It overweights assets that do well in inflation (silver, gold, Swiss Francs). Those assets are outperforming this year.

That's interesting, that the assets that do well in inflation are the ones outperforming so strongly now--a year when we are (allegedly) in such a pickle of a deflation that the Fed wants to set us all sailing on the QE2.
