Biden proved his total cluelessness about healthcare. His implicit assumption is that the cost of HC in the US is somehow a universal constant like the speed of light, and he can't seem to entertain the idea that the entire system is screwed up, which is why we overpay for worse service in this country as compared to other developed countries. In other words, he'd be Aquarius for big pharma, insurance co., hospital chains and defend them as if they were Apple Pie and Motherhood.
While I agree with your statements in theory,

1. There a lot of complicated reasons healthcare in the US is more expensive than elsewhere, and fixing it is going to be no easy task if not impossible. Having the government take it over might 'fix' it if you consider making it worse a fix.

2. The other Dem candidates want Medicare for all with no clue how to pay for it, so Biden is the only one that is realistic on the topic in many ways.

Bernie talked again about importing drugs from Canada. A quick search doesn't show many drugs being manufactured in Canada. Seems pretty fucking fishy, as we discussed in the other thread.

Warren, in particular, really seemed to dodge that when Biden kid-punched her personally.

Importation from Canada really means from India. But I've done it for years (Uloric) and it has worked out fine. I have saved tens of thousands of dollars on this one compound.

My Pravachol from Costco was made in India. Big whooping deal

Maybe we need a Healthcare News and Views thread.
I woke up from a nap to hear a story about ants feeding on a Vietnam veteran in a V.A. hospital.

For people buying drugs from India...here's a pretty scary article to gulp down with your Valsartan:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features ... st-the-fda

Importing drugs from Canada is a crazy idea. The reason Bernie wants to do it is that Canada's government negotiates prices with the pharmaceuticals, which means they don't pay the market rates charged in the US. Removing the gag order that prevents CMS from doing the same here would be a much more direct and logical approach. The effort currently underway to limit the ability to artificially extend drug patents by tweaking formulations (e.g. the "extended release" dodge) is also quite sensible.

Please let it be so.
Still, I think this brushfire has a ways to burn.

Looks like the problem was with China. (Big surprise.) To the best of my knowledge, India is the source of the lion's share of generics we see here in the U.S.
