Yeah, his militant atheism is the only thing I don't much care for.TennPaGa wrote: Never hear of this guy before, but he seems like quite a character.

Just goes to show you we Christian wackos can appreciate truth from whomever we hear it; it's the non-truth that we question.TennPaGa wrote: Never heard of this guy before, but he seems like quite a character.

Truth and non-truth is entirely subjective. Only honesty is objective.Mountaineer wrote: Just goes to show you we Christian wackos can appreciate truth from whomever we hear it; it's the non-truth that we question.![]()

Truth is objective. The universe existed far before we were able to comprehend it, no matter how honestly one thought the world was flat or the solar system was earth centered.MachineGhost wrote:Truth and non-truth is entirely subjective. Nonsense. Truth is subjective because it's all in your mind. Objectivity -- like honesty -- exists outside of it. Everyone knows what honesty is but not everyone knows what everyone else's truth is.Mountaineer wrote: Truth is objective. * truth - that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality (sounds more objective to me)
* honesty - the quality of being honest
* honest - free of deceit and untruthfulness, morally correct or virtuous (sounds more subjective to me)

OMG this guy is hilarious. He summed up my feelings about Trump exactly, including the part about "I'll vote for whatever it is you don't want, even if I don't really want it either."
He's also quite correct about the response to the Muslim attacks on women in Germany in January. I was completely mystified by the German government's response. The thing is, if Trump had said what Angela Merkel said, the media here would have been on him like a yellow jacket swarm.

Human behavior is economic behavior. The particulars may vary, but competition for limited resources remains a constant.

Let's try this. If a honesty hit you upside the head, would you recognize it? How about truth? It's not the innate nature of the concept in question but the objective perception of being able to recognize it without relying on distorting, subjective filters. We're all born honest; we all recognize it innately. Because honesty is an objective force. Nature is brutally and uncaringly honest. You put your finger in the fire, you get burned and with that comes pain. That's objectively honest. In contrast, truth is subjective spin about an honest and objective experience (or an alleged one).Mountaineer wrote: * truth - that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality (sounds more objective to me)

Hey MG, as I said in the part of my post you clipped out "Belive as you wish". Your argument is with the dictionary, not with me.MachineGhost wrote:Let's try this.
