"The Big Bang Theory" TV show

A thought as this show ends soon: The show has had astro-physicists Steven Hawking, Neil DeGrasse-Tyson and George Smoot, all PhDs, by the way, making cameo appearances. With the November release of "Bohemian Rhapsody," the movie about Freddie Mercury and "Queen," I note that guitarist Brian May com...

Re: Worst investing year ever...

Tyler, Thanks for the link. I have heard math people refer to elegant solutions. Is the Desert Portfolio an elegant portfolio or just terrific. I reflect on the Desert concoction as it might be perfect for a person who truly wishes to “set and forget.” Yes, I know the Golden Butterfly has had at mos...

Re: Worst investing year ever...

Hi, Folks and Tyler,

Am i wrong but it seems the Desert Portfolio has been removed from Portfoliocharts.com.

The Desert Portfolio is a lovely portfolio.

I may not be looking in the correct place. Wouldn't be the first time.

Thanks.

Re: How I Found Freedom

Regarding Kindle Unlimited, I tried it but found less to read after 4 weeks and cancelled in 3 months.

Any thoughts on Kindle Unlimited?

Re: How I Found Freedom

DW likes my I-Pad better than her Kindle. When her current Kindle goes, it will be replaced with a new I-Pad. Apparently, she can adjust the brightness on my I-Pad when she is using it- news to me. There are some books that just aren't on Kindle. Leon Uris' "Trinity" which I read 35 or so years ago....

Re: The end is near?

Just heard that yesterday declining socks outpaced advancers by 5 to 1. The Wall Street pros said a better ratio would have been 8 to 1 to get rid of the scared investors- a better foundation for a market surge. Today's gain of 140 +/- is not a dazzling rebound. Is this what you mean by price action...

The end is near?

I hear and read about the reasons the stock market is doomed. Have we heard the same song over the last 5-6 years? I know 2015 was flat, and that many here on the Forum mentioned the sad effect it had on the 4x25. Was not 2015 indicative of the end? Today we "know" about the dwindling of the positiv...

Re: The Permanent Tooth and Gum Care Regime

Pug,

Thanks. I've read your many responses and was hoping you give an insightful reply.

It's great to have made your acquaintance.

And I may have 35+ years to go.

Cheers.

Re: The Permanent Tooth and Gum Care Regime

Question, please. I just had my 3rd crown installed today. Apparently, nice work like the others done up in New York. I did ask today if the 4th molar was susceptible and would I eventually need a crown- a matching set!! I asked, after all, as these molars had/ have "bomb crater" fillings from 60 ye...

Bartleby, The Scrivener

Are there other short stories as funny as Bartleby?

Jean Shepherd’s short stories are great and Catch-22 was a hoot.

Some of Mark Twain’s stuff was a rip.

Re: Trump as tragicomedy

I wonder what Bartleby would think of the above. If I were him, would “I prefer not.” ? But maybe I would.

Herman Melville lived in Albany, NY, down by the docks- no doubt his motivation for Bartleby, or some other book.

Re: There seems to be an advantage to Roth conversion now until 12/31/2025

Sophie and I agree. The costs in Florida and New York can be comparable. We are not big spenders. I do miss public transportation more than I thought possible. The subways and buses are great, even if they are rotting at the moment. There isn’t much community and “neighborhood” here is concept. If a...
