Hermine

Post by Reub »

Has anyone else been effected by Hermine so far? I'm hoping that it doesn't turn into another Hurricane Sandy. Stay safe everybody!

Just lots of rain and wind here near Tampa. My insurance company forced me to put on a new roof back in July and I'm kind of glad they did now.

My first month of retirement has turned into a month of nearly endless rain which has been kind of depressing but other than that, can't complain.

Curlew, my first month (or two) of retirement was quite an ordeal for me too with my elderly dad being so ill and then being forced from our home for a month by Sandy's destruction. I hope that Hermine is a little kinder. Enjoy your retirement.

Are you suffering from a tropical depression?

Up here in central CT I think most folks are just hoping for a good rainfall. Rain has been in short supply the last three months or so.

Hope those farther south are all OK.

Actually, I think it's those farther north that are getting the worse of it.

I'd be happy to share the rain from the month of August we've had the past two years with you. Last year was even worse. It's been like monsoon season in Southeast Asia.

Yes, the potential may be worse in the more Northern latitudes as Hermine reintensifies and then is blocked by a high pressure zone (like in Sandy) and spins for days in virtually in the same place. But hopefully not.

Looks like it's going to intensify into a hurricane but then make a hard right turn and start weakening so hopefully you New Yorkers will have dodged a bullet like we did. Here in FL that was our first one in 11 years. I was enjoying the decreasing insurance premiums but it looks like that might be over.
