The Iowa vote is upon us as of Monday. Who will surprise and who will disappoint? Can Trump trump the politicians? Will Hillary be skewered by a Jewish socialist? Can she hang in there despite new revelations about the FBI investigating her emails? Is Biden waiting in the wings? Can Cruz overcome the fact that even his mother dislikes him? Will Rubio's hair and smile carry the day? Enough with all the talking and debating. It's time to count votes!

I think that Trump and Sanders will win.

I don't think it will be all that close on either side.

Sanders is a much stronger candidate than Obama was at this point in 2008.

Unlike Hillary's epic collapse in 2008, her 2016 collapse may end with a jail cell rather than the Secretary of State's office.

I'm at the point with the Clintons where I'm ready for them to get off my TV screen. The Clintons are like the political equivalent of The Simpsons TV show (though I like the Simpsons)--just a lot of lowbrow cynical irreverent humor oriented around the dark side of American life.

One difference between the Clintons and The Simpsons, however, is that as irreverent as The Simpsons has always been, I don't recall any episodes involving the President of the United States getting his dick sucked in the Oval Office by an intern and blowing his load all over her dress, which she then kept as a souvenir of the encounter. If it's offensive to read my words describing it, how much more offensive is it that it actually happened?

My gut says Clinton will pull it off. Sanders has a lot of support from people who tend not to actually vote (i.e. college students etc.). The Clintons also like to play down expectations, which they have been doing a great deal of lately. But they have a very well oiled political machine with a strong "get out the vote" ground game. I hope I am wrong. But I am not optimistic.

On the GOP side... Trump will win. And I agree with MT. It won't be close.

Rubio is electable like Bob Dole, John McCain, Mitt Romney, et al, were. If he's the nominee, it's President Hillary Clinton for sure. Trump is the ONLY one who can beat her.

I guess it would be mayor Quimby and not the president, but my first thought was poor Marge. She's got the patience of a saint.

It's not that much power really.

It's mostly just a good barometer of what the rest of the country might be feeling. Same for New Hampshire.

The word is that both Clinton and Cruz want a smaller turnout while Trump and Sanders want high turnout. So far it's looking to be high.

Trump will win NH fairly easily but if Rubio can take second this could be an intersting 3-way race.

Fortunately for Trump Iowa is not very predictive of the R candidate.

Bernie needs Iowa because after NH it gets tough for him if he doesn't have momentum.

Clinton with 517 votes and Sanders with 503. This is with 73% counted . Seems like Democrats are barely voting. Apathy!

Rubio is challenging Trump for 2nd place. He is the winner in my opinion and even though Trump probably hangs onto 2nd place he is the loser.

A loss for Trump. Solid win for Cruz. It's a 3-way race. Everyone else can leave now.

Not Rand. It's a 3-way race. Rand will do 5-6% in NH which is his ceiling, then it's curtains for him too. Bush may stick through Florida. Huckabee dropped out.

I watched Hillary's "victory" speech even though she was still in a virtual tie. I guess that she was getting tired at 11:30 PM and couldn't wait any longer. That's one thing that I've learned from her illegal emails, namely that she tires easily and gets confused. As usual she looked very beleaguered as if she were ready to almost have a stroke on stage. She was predictably shrill and ran out of things to say quickly once she had used up the platitudes. Cruz started speaking well before her and ended well after her. She is a very, very weak candidate if she even avoids a deserved indictment. I don't even know if she physically survives the campaign. Oh, and Bill looked very frail. I think that the two of them should consider retiring to Miami Beach near Bob Dole.

Rubio is like a young, Republican JFK. Handsome with a nice family. Only with a better story of rising up from poverty. Also being both Hispanic and from Florida don't hurt him. He would destroy any Democrat if he survives the primary process.
