Bitcoins
Ok, I am late but I am ready to buy some Bitcoins. How or where do you recommend I go or call?
Re: Bitcoins
Portart I have to leave it to someone else to help you as I don't own any. I am fascinated by the bitcoin market at the moment now. Would you be willing to share with me what exactly you think you're late for and why you are now ready, even if very briefly?
In the meantime I'm sure there are some very nice members who will give you excellent advice on where to go to make this easy and cheap.

Re: Bitcoins
I used coinbase.com to buy some bitcoins a while back. Worked easy. You can choose 2-factor authentication to make things more secure. They will send you a text, or call your phone, with a temporary passcode each time you log on. Works great.
I'm not sure whether there are better places to buy.

Good questions. I'm curious too.Kshartle wrote: Would you be willing to share with me what exactly you think you're late for and why you are now ready, even if very briefly?

Yes I am late. This is why it's in the "money I can afford to lose" VP class. I am not backing up the bus but will buy enough just to make it interesting. If I get a double, I probably will sell the original investment and keep the rest on the hope it takes off. There are always ideas out there to make money speculatively. It's best to get in early on anything new to make the really big money. It's easy to invest more in the beginning when things are cheap. I did well in AOL and XM when they first came out. I tend to sell early. (also a large amount of gold I sold at 1100.00 that I bought at 350.00 to pay down some of my mortgage.) As they say, you never go broke taking a profit.

If your bank account lives in the US, then coinbase is a good choice. That's what I use as well.

When Baron Rothschild was asked how he made money investing I think he said "I never buy at the bottom and always sell early".portart wrote: I tend to sell early.
At least I think that's what's attributed to him. Either way I like it.
Re: Bitcoins
I switched to Coinbase (based in San Francisco) from Mt Gox (based in Japan). Prices may seem better on Mt Gox and entering limit orders is easy, but moving US$ in and out can be a costly and time-consuming pain in the rear. The Coinbase business model makes me feel a little more comfortable. It reminds me of PayPal.edsanville wrote: If your bank account lives in the US, then coinbase is a good choice. FWIW, I like btc as a speculation, but don't bet the farm on it.
