For a shiny metal with no intrinsic value, the U.S. government seems to be awfully worried about Iranian citizens buying it....

It's just "tradition", right?

Re: US Blocks all sales of gold to Iran
What really interested me about this article was that they aren't just going after the Iranian government but also the private citizens of Iran who just want to buy some gold to protect themselves against the falling currency which is being deliberately caused by U.N. U.S. sanctions.
Which just goes to show that..
1.) The U.S. government knows that gold can protect against currency debasement.
2.) The idea that they might do the same thing to U.S. citizens in an emergency situation, as they have done before, might not be as far-fetched as most of us think.
