I personally don't think it's meaningless.  Gold ratios do carry some weight for me at least.  It tells me housing is relatively cheap.  Of course, it could stay down at those levels for 10+ years, so it's not a sure fire way to profit.

Also, it may say more about gold, than it does housing.

It means housing is cheap in real terms.  There are better metrics to use than gold, though.
