Military and Police joint training

Post by RuralEngineer »

Anyone have any logical arguments for why the military and police are performing joint training exercises that involve firing machine guns from helicopters inside U.S. cities?

Because police want to feel really cool pretending to be soldiers with all the awesome soldier stuff, and they gotta spend all that DHS money on something?

Can't be anything important, if they were going to do anything that stupid they'd first have to make sure citizens didn't have any guns...oh wait.

Holy shit... I can't think of a better way to totally freak out the populace than to just spring a training exercise on them!

Well if it will keep our kids safer, I'm all for it!  ::)

That's actually something a person said living in one of these training areas last week, who was interviewed about it.

Here's what the police in California think:

I assume they were using black helicopters for these exercises.

Dear lord, the idiocy.  "A gun is not a defensive weapon. A gun is an offensive weapon used to intimidate and show power.  Police officers do not carry a gun for defensive purposes, they carry a gun to perform their job in a safe and effective manner and deal with any opposition they may encounter."

The quote might not be word for word, but I've never heard someone contradict themselves within a singe sentence like that.  Do cops have to pass some kind of basic IQ test before they're turned loose?  If not, it needs to be a requirement.

Thanks for the clip, PS.  I'd say that it made me more resolved to never move to California, but that's not really possible.  Also, idiots are a global infestation.

This is what we're dealing with: idiots that make laws on subjects about which they are utterly ignorant. Earlier in the clip, some lady explains how a bullet button makes a semi-automatic gun fully-automatic. :o (in reality, a bullet button is a replacement mag catch that's less useful than the original in every way and is only used to satisfy a legal requirement). They describe the effect of hollow-point bullets as a bomb exploding. It's like they get all their information from Arnold Schwarzenegger movies.
