CAGR for each PP Segment?

Post by goodasgold »

Craig gives the composite CAGR for the PP, dating from the early 1970s to 2011, at:

Could anyone provide the separate CAGR for each of the four components of the PP (stock, bond, cash, gold) for this time period? Thanks.

Plugging the raw data that Craig posted into a spreadsheet, I get the following CAGRs from 1972 to 2011 inclusive

Stocks: 9.69%
LT Bonds: 8.53%
Cash: 7.10%
Gold: 8.91%

PP: 9.67%

This assumes reinvesting in the same asset (with 0 fees), no taxes, and free (no taxes and no fees) annual (not band-based) rebalancing in the PP.

The return for cash is a surprise to me. The current near 0% for this asset is a bummer.

Just hope the good returns for cash return soon (assuming the higher rates are not accompanied by disaster for other assets.) ;)
