Platinum'S Rise

Post by FarmerD »

Just a couple weeks ago platinum was selling for about a $100 below the gold price.  Today I see platinum is now selling at a higher price than gold.  That's a pretty nice rise.

If one is a momentum player this might be a good time to buy.  Not sure why it's rising though - the trillion dollar coin perhaps though the idea this would drive up platinum seems kinda nutty to me.

Although the idea of a giant trillion dollar platinum coin is hilarious, if the coin were actually minted it would probably be small enough to fit in your pocket. They would just stamp "one trillion" on it and call it good. Making it out of platinum is just a way of exploiting a loophole in the law.

Isn't it?! I read about that trillion dollar coin thing in the news and was pretty much Is this how far we've sunk? Really?! That we're actually discussing this as being potentially rational and viable? It made me want to hurl.
(Trying hard to not screw up handling the money that my husband and I have traded untold life-hours to earn...)

I picture the $1T coin being sort of like the Zimbabwe one hundred trillion dollar bill I have on my desk.

Of course The Simpsons has already covered this ground with the Trillion Dollar Bill episode:
