Now an associate member, score!

Post by Greg »

Sweetness I am now an "Associate Member". For some strange reason, I treasure the fact of gaining more stars next to my name.

Congrats! Wait til you get five stars and Craig gives you the key to the executive WC. That felt wonderful until I realized that one day some newbie was going to sign on here and see one of my comments with those five stars next to my name and assume that I have a clue what I am talking about.

I suppose with great amount of stars comes great responsibility.

I'm all very new to the PP (the inner child in me just giggled after saying "PP") but this investment philosophy is right up my alley. I tend to want to recognize risks in many of the things I do and by understanding risk, can make logical and hopefully informed decisions about how to invest. Or just knowing that we know nothing and investing that way (a nice philosophical ring to it).

But I suppose also realizing that with a 5-star rank that the internet people do look to you in some regard. It is through humility though that we believe we have nothing to offer others or fear giving advice. That's probably a good thing though. Don't want to get too cocky otherwise you turn into Jim Cramer about Bear Stearns.

I feel like I'm getting these stars just because I'm asking a lot of you people a lot of questions, not that I actually know anything yet hah.

Still, I get this sense of enjoyment of collecting stars. Like accomplishing something in a video game when you get a million points. They don't really mean anything except to the people who value them.

Since I got my five stars I've started to grow hair in places I've never had before.

I lol'ed on that one. It made me remember this excellent clip back when the Simpsons was good (IMO).

Ahh. Well that's a totally different type of fur. I'm 24 right now so if I get up to executive level in a year or two, if I have fur coming out of my ears at that point, I'll have far bigger problems than just my portfolio.

At the rate you are posting you should have fur growing out your ears within two weeks. I guarantee it.

when i got five stars my luck changed, and yours will as well

YOUR LUCK HAS BEEN ACTIVATED!
A HUGE JACKPOT IS YOURS!
I HAVE PROOF.
THESE FIVE STARS WILL
INJECT YOUR LIFE WITH THE POWERFUL ENERGY OF LUCK to help attract money to you in the coming weeks.
you can take advantage of the amazing opportunity for change that will come your way.
Im talking about AN IMPORTANT AND UNEXPECTED EVENT THAT SHOULD COMPLETELY TRANSFORM YOUR DESTINY IN LESS THAN 30 DAYS.
A POWERFUL ASTRAL INFLUENCE never seen before will work IN YOUR FAVOR and needs only a sign from you to finally attract LUCK AND HAPPINESS INTO YOUR LIFE.
There will be great changes in your destiny.
For the first time in years, THE STARS and your numbers of destiny are perfectly aligned so that luck can finally start having a financial impact on your life.
This is probably THE GREATEST OPPORTUNITY OF YOUR LIFETIME,
just perform A SUPPLEMENTARY FREE RITUAL which should favor the materialization of an unexpected amount of money that is waiting for you.
YOUR LIFE WILL MOVE TO ANOTHER SPHERE, A WORLD OF HAPPINESS AND JOY.

My hope is that the posts are of quality, not quantity so we'll see. Perhaps it's part a bit of my curiosity of the PP procress creating all the posts, a bit of obsession towards investing, and a bit of joy from collecting stars.

It's just so beautiful. It almost brings a tear to my eye to see 5 stars next to my name. I'm hoping for that Water Closet key soon. I also feel that this forum has exponentially grown my knowledge of both finance, economics, and a bunch of other goodies and I'd like to thank you all for that. I look forward to the future of learning and growing with you people.

Oh and lazyboy, it took almost 3 weeks ;)

Ah,you were just holding back. ;)
Congratulations on your fifth star, General. It's been a fun ride for me, engaging in this process of learning and making my investing life less complicated and less stressful.

Is the post counter like an old-fashioned odometer?  Does it roll back to 00000 on the next post? :)

Ideally you would hope not. Otherwise you'd lose all your stars. Much like Sonic went he'd get hit by a crab-like creature and lose all of his rings.

I had to restore your post count back to the original, plus your new posts. I was worried I'd lose count…But at least you have the screenshot.

No worries MediumTex. Inevitably I'll be replaced by cold fusion or dark matter or some far superior energy source as well. C'est la vie.

(as a sidenote I forget the avatar picture I have is of a French dude as well. A nice coincidence.)

Perhaps.

Or we might follow a more typical path seen in nature when there is a spurt of exponential growth:

To paraphrase Charlton Heston's character in Soylent Green, perhaps it is ultimately the case that "Modern humans are made of oil!"

So it's simple? We take the dead and run steam-engines with their remains? Solve the energy crisis?

Or we could just eat them, right?
