AMC has been re-running The Godfather parts one and two all week.
While I agree that these are very good movies, I've never really understood the almost religious sentiment that they are "the best movies ever."
Any opinions?
I know this has nothing to do with investing, but figured someone here might have something interesting to say.

Re: The Godfather
I thought the first one was very good. I didn't like the second one as much.
I don't think any of Al Pacino's work since these movies has been as good, even though he has had some very good performances.
I think that part of the reason that they may seem a bit tired today is because they were really the first of a genre of films and they have been copied many times since. After you've seen the same movie enough times, the original can seem a bit flat.

Since starting this thread, I've been watching it (part 2), and, I have to say, I can't stop watching.

Re: The Godfather
I really enjoyed one and two, but three is weak.
Re: The Godfather
Three was awful. It's just another cheap Godfather knock-off that happened to have the same director and some of the same actors in it as the earlier films.6 Iron wrote: I really enjoyed one and two, but three is weak.
Three was made after Al Pacino had entered his screaming phase, and he was like a different actor from the moody, brooding guy in the first two films.
