"I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happens to them all."

King Solomon

Good quote.

HB would probably agree.

Ecclesiastes 11:2
But divide your investments among many places, for you do not know what risks might lie ahead.

Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth. (king James version)

Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
Many years ago, 1968 I think, the Harvard Lampoon did a parody of Time Magazine.  One of the "articles" was about a group of rich men who arranged the bludgeoning of camels so as to allow them to pass through the eye of a needle.

Or so I recall (I was in High School at the time).

Desert wrote: But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.”? He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it. (John 12:4-6)

In modern times, Judas would run a front-end load managed mutual fund, available only through trusted financial advisers.
Speaking of financial advisors, investment gurus, and market prognosticators:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves." (Matthew 7:15)
