Margin Call, The Movie

Post by jackely »

Watched it last night. It's a dramatization of a Lehman-like investment bank meltdown in 2008 and well worth the $1 rental fee at Redbox. It's a lot better than "Wall Street" but unlike that movie the crooks walk away with lots of money in the end and nobody goes to jail. In other words a true story.

I saw it... great movie.

I especially liked the guy reminiscing on how he engineered a bridge that saved people, collectively, thousands of days of their lives in sitting in traffic... obviously comparing it to what he was doing packaging mortgages, where he made gobs more money but delivered significantly less value.

Was this the same one that was on TV a few months ago?

I think it just came out on video... doubt it.

It has Kevin Spacey and Demi Moore in it.

Is it like "The Usual Suspects" meets "Ghost"?

I think it's mostly about how to rationalize being an evil person on planet earth. Not really that hard.

Oh, so it's kind of like "American Psycho" meets "Wall Street"?

That sounds pretty good.

I redboxed it last night.. Was pretty good. Kevin Spacey is always good, he seems to play the part of a "business executive" in many movies. I guess he just looks the part.
