Amazon stock: keep or sell?

Post by Benko »

Single stocks are not a great idea I realize.  This was bought on impulse (a mistake I will not repeat), though there are some points in favor of keeping it.  OTOH I'd have no problem selling and buying more PP.

Thoughts?

Amazon has not seen the P/E compression of many other stocks in recent years.

I don't fully understand why this hasn't happened to Amazon, though it certainly could at any time.

Amazon is a great company, but the stock could lose half its value and its P/E would still be very high relative to the rest of the market.

For my VP, I invest in mostly dividend stocks with PEG less than 1, dividend of over 3%, and payout ratio of less than 70%.

Speaking of Amazon, it does not meet these criteria so I say away from it.

I like dividend stock of at least 3% in dividend yield because it means that I can get an interest or dividend yield of almost 1% every 3 months.
