Gold soars

Gold is taking off in pre markets.....up to nearly 1700

Treasuries seem to be holding level

Not by much. The biggest news of the day so far is that Pork Bellies are down nearly 12%. Yawn... ::)

Good news on the pork bellies. I'll make sure to add them to my doomsday prepper food stash now that they are on sale.  :)

The gold price seems to relate more to ECB decision to buy Italian and Spanish debt than US downgrade. When/If QE3 hits you might see another 100 dollars more.

I wonder if the price move of LT bonds last Friday was related to a leak of the S and P downgrade plan, and is already priced in.
