Blaming the Smurfs for the crash? Really?

Post by smurff »

The financial media is blaming the August 4 crash on the Smurfs, simply because a few of them were there to open trading (ring the bell) at the NYSE.    ???

Someone started this rumor on Twitter, then CNBC and CNN picked up on it.  They even reported this rumor on ABC's "Nightline."

I have a tendency to assume these reports are made in jest, but with the levels of journalist (in)competency these days, fostering everything from hare-brained conspiracy theories to hacking into people's mobile phones, maybe they really believe this.

In case any of you are wondering, I was not there, and I had nothing to do with it. ;)

How do we know there is nothing to this story?

The only person who told us it wasn't true is a person who goes by the name "smurff."

That's sort of like Tim Geithner telling us that the banks passed the stress tests back in 2009.
Q: “Do you have funny shaped balloons?”
A: “Not unless round is funny.”

^Timmeh!!

Sure fire VP Bet, if it were possible in either the NYSE or Vegas casinos.

Bet YES that Timmeh will work as an senior exec or lobbyist for some financial company upon leaving the Fed Gov

I did not realize it when he was nominated for Treasury Secretary, but Tim Geithner is a Smurf.  He walks like, talks like, looks like (except for giving up his blue and his medieval cap) a Smurf.

But MT, honest, I cannot say that he had nothing to do with this mess.  I just know that I didn't.
