Air Pods or?

I ask these technology related questions because so many people here have excellent responses to my questions.
Last summer before one of my softball games I found something on the field which I had no idea what it was. Turned out that they were 2nd generation Air Pods in their case.
After I discovered what they were and that my iPod mini cable fit into the case and discovered how easy it was to pair them with my Android phone ... I just recently started using them.
They are excellent. Far superior to any other bluetooth headphone or earpiece option I'd prior used on my phone.
Yesterday while using them in my car I noticed that I was only hearing my friend out of the right one. Since I was driving I did not pursue why I was not hearing them out of the left one.
I discovered why when I got into the house and after taking out the right one and attempting to take out the left one I saw that it was not there.
I immediately checked my driver's seat and then drove to where I'd been and looked at each of four places I'd got out of my car plus my trucnk. Never found them.
My choices are to just use the right one, which is okay since I only use them for talking on the phone. I'm not going to listen to music or anything else on my phone.
Other choices are buy a left one. On eBay they seem to go for about $40 or so. Or, more.
I assume others here have used Air Pods.
How do you rate the experience and the value? Which specific generation or model have you used?
Have you found any other solution which works just as well as the Air Pods but are better value, i.e.,, cost less or better battery life?
These are by far the best I've ever used for hearing the other person talking plus everyone says I am coming across quite clearly to them.
