I have an acquaintance in NYC looking to sell 170 silver dollars, mostly Morgans and Liberties.
The reviews I have found for coin/bullion buyers/sellers in Manhattan seem to be mostly disgruntled.
Is there anywhere in NYC or online you would recommend?
where to sell 170 Morgans and Liberty silver dollars?

Re: where to sell 170 Morgans and Liberty silver dollars?
I think that most people who are disgruntled with dealers are basing their opinions on buying experiences, not selling experiences.
It seems to me that a dealer is going to offer a certain amount for each type of coin. If you think that is a good price, you can accept the offer. I don't know what could go wrong with such a transaction if it happens in person (unless perhaps the dealer wrote a bad check for the purchase).
There are also LOTS of dealers who will purchase by mail. That's an option to consider.

Re: where to sell 170 Morgans and Liberty silver dollars?
I buy and sell coins at times and I found the best way to sell the coins you have, And I assume they are bullion coins, not in anyway collector coins, is to sell them on Ebay.
Dealers will give far less because they resell and need their profit. Selling on Ebay you leave it open auction and let end users, investors bid up the price to the market rate.
The market rate is usually going to be above the spot price found at kitco.com though you do have to consider that the coins are 90% silver or coin silver so check out the price for coin silver here.http://www.coinflation.com/silver_coin_values.html
Look and see what others are selling Morgans for at Ebay and it will give you an idea what yours are worth. All the best

Liz L, I took the liberty to check what your coins are worth. Here is a link for 100 coins on Ebay.

AU means Almost Un-circulated or in other words, in pretty good shape...Lee

FWIW, don't buy gold and silver coins on Ebay, though it sounds like selling them could work out fine (assuming not too many people take my advice not to buy).

Liz,
Here is a link to 100 coins that actually sold on Ebay.

MT....
PS Ebay holds the money in escrow until the buyer gets the coins and will release the cash to the seller after the buyer leaves feedback.
I had a problem once when buying some gold coins but it all worked out and i got my money back...it is all pretty easy really and the process is even insured now....
