Paul McCartney died in 1966 and was replaced by a lookalike YES and 1960s rock and roll and hippies were an invention/plot by the military industrial complex to discredit the anti war moment (who were upstanding respectable looking Americans who protested wearing collared shirts and ties before the hippies made protesting a dirty, drug fueled, orgy..

I feel like there's an interesting thread in there.

if you want a great conspiracy theory and some interesting 1960s history you should read inside the LC http://www.whale.to/b/inside_the_lc1.html its HUGE a 10 part history, but an entertaining and informative read (even with a skeptical mind). i really don't know how much of this i buy, but it sure has enough coincidence and circumstantial evidence to make me wonder...

That was just plain creepy.  I had not heard of Laurel Canyon before, or all the connections.

yep a bit creepy... it made me question a bunch of notions i had about the 60's, the cultural revolution, the music and the whole peace love self actualization moment. The sudden appearance of a giant music industry where there was none, the connections all the main movers had with high ranking military/military intelligence, and the conveniently located Laurel canyon (secret) military movie/propaganda /?? base, then all the other strange interconnections on top of that is a bit mind boggling...

Definitely one of the more fun conspiracy theories I've read in a while!
