CraigR and MediumTex

Post by buddtholomew »

I have not seen a comment on this board for some time now from either Craig or MediumTex. I personally miss their perspective on the current economic climate and how the portfolio is positioned to prosper under these conditions.

Yes I miss them too. Have they deserted into the hands of the Taliban? Or even the Bogleheads?

They've both been posting.

They were very active on the "retirement fund confiscation" thread in the "other" section.

I think they try to avoid posting anything redundant.  If they've posted a perspective in a similar thread, they seem to avoid weighing in repeatedly when comes up again somewhere else.

I have a feeling that he got tired of debating certain things with some of the other members.  Too bad, though.  I always liked reading his posts.  Hopefully he's just taking a break.

Gumby has moved on and is busy living his life. I wish him well and hope that he can find the time and inclination to stop bye and say hello every once in a while.

Yes, the loss of Gumby is a real shame.

I'm very busy now and don't have time to post much. Also I admit repeating the same things gets tiring.

Honestly I don't look at my portfolio much and ignore almost 100% of the financial press. So mostly there isn't really much for me to say on anything economics related.

This is why there will never be a regular program on CNBC dedicated to passive investing. How many different ways can you think of to say... "Index, keep your fees, expenses and taxes as low as possible, stay diversified, reinvest dividends, don't trade and ignore the ticker?" After a week at most, they would run out of things to say.

A great benefit, but also the curse of one of the most successful investing strategies ever devised, is that it is incredibly boring.

That is why this website is so vital. It helps keep the HBPP fresh and interesting. And it can never be as interesting without CraigR, MT, and Gumby!

I agree. The forum is only as appealing as its members.

Perhaps a recruitment effort is in order.  Suze Orman, Dave Ramsey, Motley Fools?  Chris Matthews? ;D
