Never mind what I think. Let's ask the stock market.

Feather in Obama's hat. That footage of him making the announcement is historic.MediumTex wrote: How about that?
A reporter on CNN called it "the end of the war on terror." We'll see...

Re: Osama bin Laden Dead
I would think that with the market hating uncertainty, Osama's death is welcome, but at the same time I would definitely say this will mean a higher risk of short-term "desperation" terror activity.

Just my random ramblings.

Those blurbs are almost universally nonsense. The market (the S&P) is up a little. Could be for any reason, but doubt it's Osama.

No Adam!!! Today, if the market is up, it's because of ubl. if it's down, it's because of ubl.Adam1226 wrote:Those blurbs are almost universally nonsense. The market (the S&P) is up a little. Could be for any reason, but doubt it's Osama.

Wonder if they'll release his picture.

I sure hope that they release it faster than that pesky birth certificate!
Re: Osama bin Laden Dead
I'll leave it to the always excellent Mark Twain:
"I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure."
My prediction: this operation will be reconstructed in the next Call of Duty game (and reconstructed very well if the Chernobyl levels from CoD4 were any indication.)

Hey jmourik, thanks for the correction... so Clarence Darrow gets the credit for that one! Not quite as much cachet as Twain, but I'll take it.

Bin Laden succeeded in economic strategy http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/n ... con04.html
Saw this today and thought I'd share. I've always known that Al Queda's strategy was a lot deeper than simply knocking down a few buildings. It was really about economic warfare, not simply terrorism for terror sake. Whatever you say about him, it cannot be denied that he was a keen observer of the western world.

Re: Osama bin Laden Dead
I'm not sure I buy it. We have vested interest in the Middle East beyond Bin Laden. Yes, we've spent money on the region...a lot, but I'm not sure how much credit we should give Osama for that. I think this idea makes for a good story, but the issue is probably more complex, as the author kind of concedes.Pkg Man wrote: Bin Laden succeeded in economic strategy http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/n ... con04.html
