I just found out about Flux, an app that changes the color of your screen according to the time of day, to avoid blue light at night that keeps you awake:

I later discovered that f.lux, while helpful (and better than nothing), is inadequate. The reason why is because even with the f.lux software, the color temperature at 2300ºK is still too high to encourage proper melatonin production (a limitation of LCD screens/monitors). In reality the color temperature should not be greater than fire, or a candle <~2000º to encourage melatonin production. Additionally, any ambient artificial light around you will instantly activate the Melanopsin receptors — rendering the software somewhat pointless.
The good news is that you can bypass all these issues with those proper blu-blocker glasses we've discussed.
Lowbluelights.com sell high quality glasses. Amazon sells low-quality $8 ones. Either should be fine.
I still have f.lux installed and I do find it useful up until I put on my glasses

Ha, I remember reading about that some time ago.
I never tried it, although I do love my melatonin ritual before bed.
