HSA for retirement

Post by nwagers »

My employer is now offering options that allow us to use HSAs so I've been reading up on them. They have a nice advantage of being completely tax free on all ends. It's unlikely I'll need the max contribution in any year. Other forums discuss using these as an additional retirement vehicle. The problem I've found is that many of the HSAs have high monthly fees, poor investment options and large closing fees.

Given that I still have space in a 401(k), would anyone recommend an HSA for retirement funds and why?

Does anyone know of an HSA that has good options and really low expenses (comparable to vanguard or fidelity IRAs)?
