What scares me about Summers isn't the policies he might pursue, it's the fact that he's an arrogant moron.
It's not that there aren't plenty of arrogant morons in political positions, but there is something about Summers' bull-in-a-china-shop style that is a little unsettling to me.
I would rather guys like that stick to wrecking endowments like he did at Harvard rather than wrecking the whole economy.

I'm very confident that he will improve the value of my portfolio.MediumTex wrote: What scares me about Summers isn't the policies he might pursue, it's the fact that he's an arrogant moron.

By being an arrogant moron, of course.

Sometimes I wonder if the Fed chief job is more about being polished enough for press conferences and sworn testimonies before congress rather than real decision making about the economy. I figure the chief has nerds for the real thinking. Once people get to that level of power you'd wonder how they have time to crunch any numbers or examine the numbers so closely. But maybe that's just wishful thinking.
Nothing I say should be construed as advice or expertise. I am only sharing opinions which may or may not be applicable in any given case.

It's probably all about which nerds they choose to solicit information from, same as any upper management position.Gumby wrote: I figure the chief has nerds for the real thinking. Human behavior is economic behavior. The particulars may vary, but competition for limited resources remains a constant.

Trumpism is not a philosophy or a movement. It's a cult.

I think he's perceived as more hawkish than Yellen. I think it's hurting stocks a little and definately gold. I think it's strengthening the dollar. It's a sucker's rally imo....
I don't even think he's a slam dunk.
look he's every bit the puppet Yellen is, and every bit as dumb.
I think the next FED chair is the bagholder for some really rough times.
I think she gets the hot potato. We'll see.
