Is Organic Produce Healthier?

Post by rocketdog »

A fascinating scientific study of fruit flies by a teenager(!) sheds some potential light on the answer:

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Wow, that's a really creative way to approach it. I have been buying more organic food mostly because I don't trust a lot of the big food corporations but its interesting to see some harder data to back it up :-\

Smart kid.

However, this just shows correlation and not causation.  From the article:

"The difference in outcomes among the flies fed different diets could be due to the effects of pesticide and fungicide residue from conventionally raised foods."

So fruit flies don't do well when fed fruit treated with pesticides.  That's kinda the point.
