The last time Gold peaked in 1979 (?) or so, it had a value that the total value of US gold reserves was enough to completely cover US foreign debt.
If you apply the same metric with today's numbers... Let's see....
Total US Debt (Approx.): $14 trillion
% of debt held by foreigners: 25%
Total US foreign debt: $3.5 trillion
Total US gold reserves: 8,133.5 tonnes => 286,900,000 Oz..
Price of gold to cover foreign debt per Oz: $12, 199.34
I'm not sure if that is a fair price for gold, but I would submit that Gold isn't going higher than that number in the near future...
