Reward for Converting New People To The PP?

Post by TripleB »

When it comes to religion, each one offers some kind of reward for "saving" someone by converting them to your faith. It might be an extra virgin in heaven or a new planet in the afterlife or whatever.

We spend a lot of time discussing the PP with people outside the forums, trying to get them to understand our way of thinking and investing. I think it would be cool if we could get a reward like maybe an extra 0.1% real return on our portfolios for each person we convert to the PP. Maybe CraigR can set something like that up  :D

sharing peace of mind with friends, regarding finances, with those who are ready, is its own reward.

(also, helping your friends to get outside financial system, by owning metal they wouldn't otherwise own, so they can survive what's heading our way)

If I catch myself trying to "convert" someone to the PP I realize it's because I have too much time on my hands.  :D

Just have craigr set up a permanent portfolio (cragx or something) mutual fund and we can work on commission trying to get people into the portfolio. We can also charge a little bit less than PRPFX in terms of expense ratio basis points so we can say we're the "cheap" alternative.

I talk about the PP if it comes up in conversation but I never try to "convert" anyone. One of my co-workers adopted it but I cautioned him beforehand that "past performance doesn't guarantee future results". I don't want any friend or relative to blame me if the PP ends up going south.

The last thing I would want to do is convert the rest of the world over to the PP.  The reason is that the PP gives investors an edge.  When everyone has the same edge, no one has that edge anymore.  It's best (in my opinion) for the PP to remain as a mysterious backwater cult that the mainstream investing community ignores.

The PP needs to remain our little secret.

That won't be hard. It's composed of assets that people hate! The few times I tried to talk about the PP to others got me looks like I was from Mars.

It's also just "too different" and/or "too complicated" for most people -- although upon examination neither objection holds much water.  And many otherwise smart and sophisfticated investors just overthink it.  They simply can't give up the hubris of fortune telling.

I'm certainly not worried about too many converts in my lifetime.
