My apologies - I didn't see your post for some reason.  It is a really great article.  Can you imagine the outcry today if the government were to start poisoning some controlled substance like cannabis?

We learned about prohibition in school.  I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that my textbooks failed to mention the government killed 10,000 people in its bid to legislate morality.  At least today we're a more mature and merciful society.  Our efforts to legislate morality only result in people being thrown in cages rather than killed.
