Wow! Totally ignoring how he is just so wrong; I think that even were I convinced I was right about something that I would take a deep breath or three before launching into such a direct attack on one of the greatest living investors in the world. On a scale of 1-10 in terms of a well reasoned critique I would give this a 2. No data to refute the mountains of data presented by Bogle and various academic studies all showing the superiority of indexing. No specific examples beyond rather vague anecdotal references. No empirical evidence at all. Frankly I have doubts this guy has ever read any of Bogle's books.
Honestly I almost feel sorry for Chignell. He seems to have ignored Abe Lincoln's famous axiom that it is better to let everyone think you are a fool than open your mouth (or in this case start typing) and remove all doubt.
Trumpism is not a philosophy or a movement. It's a cult.
Don't really know that much about Mr. Bogle but I hope he is wrong about the things he is saying about the immediate future. They aren't very encouraging but it probably doesn't take a genius to see that for yourself.
Bogle is just an extremist so that makes him an easy target.
