How does google search on plants yield ads showing me plants WHILE ON THIS SITE

Post by Benko »

I realize privacy is dead, but does anyone know how a google search on houseplants results in me seeing ads for houseplants while I'm on this site?  Perhaps something to do with cookies?

I assume it does.

I don't know how Google does its ad placement, other than I notice they do seem relevant to my recent searches as well.

I'm sure it's a cookie thing.

Sounds like you need:

I use both and am very happy with them, even if it's just the placebo effect ;)

Human behavior is economic behavior. The particulars may vary, but competition for limited resources remains a constant.

Yes, Google keeps a cookie on your computer, which you can opt out of by going here:

http://www.google.com/ads/preferences/html/opt-out.html

If you have a Google ad tracking cookie on your computer, they will keep track of your search history and target ads based on what they think you are interested in.
