Gonna Be Sore in the Mornin'

Post by MediumTex »

I am anxious to see how PRPFX does today.

Gold down 2.60%.
Silver down 3.84%.
Swiss franc down 1.54%.
Stocks down .64%.

As I have observed before, look for PRPFX to be down less than one might think today, but down MORE than one might think tomorrow.

It seems as if PRPFX has some mechanism for spreading losses from really bad days over two days of closing prices.

Interestingly enough, PRPFX recognized a loss of 1.3% and .13% respectively over 1/4 and 1/5. What you may be witnessing is the difference between Gold's closing price on the COMEX exchange and the end of day GLD/IAU price. If the commodity continues to decline after trading has ceased on the exchange (10:30am), then the impact on the fund can only be recognized the following day.

Today should be another interesting test of how PRPFX's closing price compares to what one would anticipate.

I know this is the mutual fund forum, but I find that these moves are much more interesting (and a bit scary) in and of themselves than any kind of delay that happens in the PRPFX mutual fund.

Is this the PP machine breaking down, by chance?

Even Hondas get sent to the junk yard at some point.

You are using a stopwatch when you should be using a calendar.

You don't have to enjoy watching sausage being made in order to enjoy eating it.

I understand, MT... and good analogies.

Visualize yourself as a PP sphinx--the world presents you with alternating calamity and calm.  You take it all in with equanimity.  The PP provides you with this luxury, but you must recognize it...grasshopper.

How about a PP haiku:

Assets fluctuate
Chickens without heads can't hear
Prudence makes soft sound
