Predictions Anyone?

Post by buddtholomew »

I predict that the FED will make no mention of Q3 after their 2-day meeting wraps up later this morning. SPY and GLD will tank, while LTT will end flat. I am itching to speculate on this outcome, but am educated enough to know that no one can predict how the market will respond to this news. Alternatively QE3 could be announced and SPY, GLD and TLT could rally together, or not. Time will tell...

Well it looks like you were right on your first prediction... the Fed sat on their hands. But it also appears that the markets are taking the news with a big yawn.

Yes, I was surprised to see that SPY held up after the news. GLD on the other hand responded as predicted and TLT ended in the negative by approximately .5%. Ho hum and a bottle of rum...

The more important Central Bank news will come from the ECB tomorrow.

In the scheme of things there isn't much they can do but delay the inevitable, as they have run out of "other people's money" to spend over there.

Everyone is waiting to see what the ECB does tomorrow.  Personally, I think they're going to be very disappointed, but who knows?

Pathetic display from both the FED and the ECB. Why do we even bother listening to what these individuals have to say? I have lost complete faith in elected officials and am appalled at the tactics used to manage this financial disaster.

The approach is simply to keep everyone from outright panic until either 1) they figure out how to solve the problem, or 2) the problem is outgrown or blown over by the passage of time.

If neither 1 or 2 happen before too many people wise up, we're all in for a world of hurt.
