Hi, in case anyone is interested in getting a little extra "juice" on their cash, Chase is currently offering $150 for a $10,000 savings account to new customers. The fine print is that they will deposit the $150 after 90 days, but if you close the account sooner than 6 months, they will take it back. So, really, this is just a 3% interest rate (1.5% for 6 months) on $10,000. Perhaps if you and your wife both open an account you could take advantage of it a couple times. Open one for your kids as well.
It seems like a reasonable deal if you are willing to spend a few minutes at a branch opening an account.

Just to update - I received a special offer from Chase in the mail and finally jumped on it. $200 to open a checking account.
The catch is you must either use direct deposit (I'm not going to switch my DD there) or keep a minimum $1500 daily balance, or you are charged a $12 a month fee.
The other catch is that you must keep the account open for 6 months. If you close it before 6 months they deduct the $200 at time of closing.
I just did an opening deposit of $1500, will not touch the account for 6 months, and get a 26.666% return on my $1500. Not a bad offer if you're willing to jump through the hoops (15 minutes spent online opening the account).
Look for the offer in your US mail because the online coupon codes are not the same.

Too bad I already have a Chase account.

Did this - totally worth it. I just keep the minimum balance. The opportunity cost for my $1500 cash is the around .8% I'd be earning in another account.
However, you do need to be lucky enough to get the mailer with a unique offer code.

My thought when going through the motions of opening the account - they must be desperate for money after all of their trading losses. Here's to FDIC insurance - I really don't care!
