Thanks for the link. I just had a chance to read the transcript. It really is a great interview. One of the major themes that was highlighted was that gold's value doesn't change--the currency it's priced in does. I made the same point on the diehards forum not too long ago. It's really important for people to view it from the proper angle because it puts the entire picture into perspective.Snowman9000 wrote: Very nice interview. I always enjoy Jim Grant. Another great point was made about the driver behind this bull market--credit quality and fear. That is 100% spot on. Folks that don't take the time to understand gold always think it rises because of inflation. It doesn't have to. The market is assessing credit quality first and foremost and as fear of excessive inflation or outright default waxes and wanes, so does the market price.
Excellent interview.

Good stuff, thank you for posting. It's really worth taking the time to understand gold's history and unique properties as well as what it represents: money.
They also make the very good point about how much more aware people are now of modern central banking and how it works. Quantitative Easing has started to become a punchline on people's Facebook walls. I'd have never thought this kind of widespread attention was possible 5 years ago.
Gold only seems like a strange idea until you consider how much stranger fiat currencies and their management truly is.
