After seeing how easy it was to do on Fidelity and also reading up on TLT lending out its shares (counterparty-risk), I decided to go with directly owning bonds.
So far I've only purchased 1 bond today at $1000 face value for a 30-year bond since May at 3% (with a premium to the price).
When starting the accumulation phase, I'm thinking of purchasing both 30-year bonds and EE bonds and perhaps dollar-cost averaging in as I go for most of these things as I build my PP from the ground up. Already got the stock components; actually I'm selling off stock stuff to bring it more down to its 25% range and intending on buying from goldmart.com a few American Gold Eagles and Kruggerands sometime next week.
I've seen the light for investing, and it is the Permanent Portfolio approach in my eyes.
