I think what those posters are really trying to say is "If the socialists come into power that means the current ruling elite will have to find something else to do."
Statism has many different configurations.
I used to get a kick out of George W. Bush telling people that "the terrorists hate us because of our freedom" at the same time that he was hollowing out Americans' freedoms like few political leaders in our history.
