Fred Reed: We Are Screwed
Trumpism is not a philosophy or a movement. It's a cult.
Re: Fred Reed: We Are Screwed
We all see stuff like this in our emails every day, usually by the same person that sent us the "Obama is the Antichrist" email the day before... I don't see how this would ruffle too many feathers... people are used to it.
"Men did not make the earth. It is the value of the improvements only, and not the earth itself, that is individual property. Every proprietor owes to the community a ground rent for the land which he holds."

Re: Fred Reed: We Are Screwed
He actually brought up a few good points that made me think, especially when he mentioned that crimes by blacks against whites or asians are much higher than crimes by whites against blacks. But he ignores the realities of hate crimes in our society: A crime committed by a black person against a white person usually has nothing to do with race - it is simply a crime of a poor person robbing what he perceives to be a wealthier person. A crime based solely on race is more offensive to society and thus, we deem that these crimes deserve a harsher sentence. The dragging death of the black man comes to mind, where he was drug by a chain behind a truck for several miles. Or the death of Matthew Shepard in Wyoming, the gay teenager that was left to die in the woods. No matter how many poor blacks rob wealthy whites who happen to be in the wrong neighborhood after dark, it does not justify any of these brutal hate crimes.
Where he goes really off the rails is making fun of blacks for their names. Hey, I might agree that names like "Trayvon, Lateesha, Keeshawn" are ridiculous, but they are a cultural choice no different than Gomer, Herbert, or any other wierd name that Caucasians use.
Also, he willfully ignores the fact that the vast swathes of poor urban black populations were largely created intentionally by governmental policies of segregation and discrimination.
His whole article is basically reduced to the equivalent of a white man complaining that all of the indians on the reservation are alcoholics, after he forced them to move there and gave them a monthly check and put a liquor store on the res that conveniently cashes their government checks.

Is a person less "dead" or less "mugged" if the crime is done solely for monetary reasons?

I have never understood why assaulting or killing someone because their life has no more value to the assailant than a cockroach, is less bad than doing it because he hates someone's skin color, religion, or sexual orientation. I find the lack of basic humanity in both equally repugnant and equally worthy of punishment.Reub wrote: "But he ignores the realities of hate crimes in our society: A crime committed by a black person against a white person usually has nothing to do with race - it is simply a crime of a poor person robbing what he perceives to be a wealthier person. If you want to get REALLY Politically incorrect, read Fred's piece about reparations for slavery. I don't know if it's on his website but I read it in his book "Nekkid in Austin, or Drop your inner child down a well" (which I can't recommend paying money for because most of it is just reprinting his online articles). His ramblings on feminism are also priceless.Ad Orientem wrote: Warning: Extreme Political Incorrectness

In the piece about reparations Fred decides it is a very good idea and expects his check in the mail any day.
