PP mention in Mebane Faber's Risk Parity Video

Post by clacy »

Not a super in depth discussion, but he includes the PP in his dynamic risk parity video (2 parts).  It's the second post from the top.....

Liked the presentation (but not the parts on using leverage and market timing. :) ). He mentions something about the Permanent Portfolio that I've been saying for years. That is that it has not had any extended periods of negative real returns the past 40 years. Basically every rolling 10 year period it is in the 3-5% real return range. This is something that many other stock and bond portfolios did not do.

So no the Permanent Portfolio is not going to do as well as a stock heavy portfolio during a booming stock market. However, if you want real returns across many environments, it's got a good record.

He should worry about GTAA, his flagship ETF for tactical asset allocation.
