I would have to disagree.

Our budget deficit was smaller than our trade deficit from 1997-2008, draining our economy of cold-hard savings.

Only since 2009 have we been running deficits large enough to service both foreign demand for our money and domestic need for high-powered medium of exchange.

We have a lot of making up to do to repair our balance sheets.
