I asked Jeremy whether it felt like a burden to carry the hopes and expectations of so many Asian-American men upon his shoulders, and he answered that he couldn’t play for other people.  ”?I can’t even play for myself.  The right way to play is not for others and not for myself, but for God.  I still don’t fully understand what that means.  I’m still learning to be selfless and submit myself to God and give the game up to Him.  My audience is God.”?  He does, however, have a responsibility to be a “godly role model,”? and when I asked whether it would please him if his success shattered negative stereotypes of Asian males, he broke into a big smile.  ”?I would be pleased,”? he said.  ”?Absolutely, I would be pleased.”?

So would I.  You go, Jeremy.

I saw Lin play a few minutes in his first Knick game and liked him immediately. It still remains to be seen if he can make it as a starting point guard, but he sure is talented and determined. I would love to see him do well.

Scoring may not be a problem.  Assists another matter.  Who is he going to pass to with Anthony and Stoudemire out?

38 more points for this diminutive new folk hero against the Lakers. He added 7 assists. Most importantly the Knicks have 4 wins in a row, even with their 2 big stars not playing. Lin is actively looking for an apartment now as his contract has been guaranteed.

Linsanity strikes again! After a win in Minnesota in which an exhausted Lin scored 20 points and led the team to its fifth straight win, Lin does it again in Toronto. He wins the game with a 3-pointer with half a second to play in a tie game. He finished with another 27 points and 11 assists after earlier in the day being named the NBA player of the week. For Lin, there are no more low expectations.

Jeremy Lin is a tremendously appealing story. I will be interested to see how Carmelo Anthony's eventual return plays out...

I don't know what has lit a fire under him, but there is something about Jeremy Lin's comments about his faith that immediately struck me as being authentic. He really  surrendered to something bigger than his ego mind. He demonstrates a faith that helped him overcome the mountain he was facing; that made him see that the NBA is smaller to him than his understanding of the divine.  I find that kind of turn around inspiring. I certainly hope he can keep going.
