Russia's Satan 2 came into service in 2023, they have 50 and each can carry 16 independent targetable nuclear warheads, so one could hit 16 different UK major cities. They have a 11,000 mile range and travel at 15,888 mph. If say the UK was individually wiped out then other nations likely would not respond other than vocally. Russia is large and would require many nukes to retaliate. Doomsday weapons are the more assured mutual destruction defensive choice but under the vocal platform UN are illegal - so don't exist (other than perhaps via a whisper in Putin's ear). With the resumption of arms races (largely driven by Trump) the tendency is for increased independent development and greater risk of sooner or later a "mistake" being made. If there is intelligent life elsewhere out there in the universe it likely would not take the form of mankind, who has a likening of killing/hurting others.
