GDevelop

Post by Smith1776 »

Does anyone have experience with GDevelop? It's a game development platform for indies and small development teams. I was thinking of using it to try my hand at game development. Any opinions?

GDevelop is an open-source, no-code game engine that is easy to use for teachers and beginners but also powerful enough for power users. The engine builds game logic through a visual, event-based system without the need for programming and supports both 3D and 2D games. It has some key features such as an inbuilt physics engine, advanced animation tools, and over 100 pre-built behaviors for rapid game development. It provides native cross-publishing (web, mobile, desktop, Steam, etc.) and multi-player games with support for native networking. It also provides a massive asset store, templates, and an engaged community of 160+ extensions. Its lightweight, high-speed IDE and network preview allow effortless development and testing. In short, it's a malleable, beginner-friendly platform for creating everything from basic mobile games to complex Steam releases without writing any code.
