The Bird Box sequel just dropped today on Netflix and I'm super excited! Watching now.
Interesting. That’s the film title I often use to describe the early days of covid. Going out on the street after 72 hours inside and seeing an old lady dive out of the way when she saw me coming.

Perhaps the reason she avoided you was not due to her COVID fears. (Let your mind wander and ponder now.)

Hahahaha. This one doesn’t have sandy B in it.. doesn’t pack the same punch so far.
Movies that don't have one are incomplete at best.
My favourite is the one Tony Stark has in the original 2008 Iron Man film as he's designing the Mark II. I suppose it's more of a building montage than a proper training montage, but the same vibe is definitely there.

If the Topic title was amended to (& other) I'd participate. Otherwise I cancelled my Netflix subscription long ago and use Amazon Prime and other means for what Netflix provides.

What I’m watching on Netflix lately is not appropriate to post on this forum

No, but I hear those are rendered properly on an Apple monitor.

Apparently the sequel to Joker, one of my favourite films of all time, is going to be a musical, or at least heavily music-based.
This isn't a huge surprise given that Lady Gaga is in it... also I remember the director saying that he wanted Phoenix to play Joker like he had "music within him" in the first film.
Thing is... I friggin' hate musicals. If I want to listen to music, I'll listen to music. When I'm watching a movie, I want to watch a movie. A musical is like the worst of both worlds in a form of media that doesn't seem to know what it wants to be.
I dunno, I will still watch Joker 2 hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

I guess ‘Schmigadoon’ is not for you, then.
I was watching Joker coming home on a transoceanic flight and immediately ordered the blu-ray so I could see the whole thing.
You mentioned Lady Gaga. Side note: I saw her father, Joe Germanotta, on Fox Biz a week or two ago. He’s so down to earth. He has owned a restaurant in New York for a long time now. I saw him on the screen and thought, <<that’s Lady Gaga’s father’s name.>>(Don’t ask). But, I didn’t know it was *that* Joe G until it was casually announced by Neil Cavuto.

The movie that was a biography of Elton John was a tremendous musical. The ones about Elvis and The Four Seasons were also quite good.

Hahaha.
Speaking of transoceanic flights and movies! I'll be making a flight to Hong Kong in late October. I've decided that on that flight I'm going to watch the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy... extended edition.

I think part of my bias against musicals might be because I used to have an ex that loved them and would make me watch them all the time...

Want any souvenirs?
All I care about is dim sum. Take photos if you have some!
I think the famous 100-year-old one closed in 2022, sadly.
Lord of the Rings: excellent choice.

‘Squaring the Circle’ is awesome.
The guys who did the album art for Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel, and so much more.

This movie, Silver Skates, was in particular a real gem. It's a classic poor boy and rich girl love story with lots of interesting drama. Highly recommended.

Does it have English subtitles? I always want subtitles even if an American movie.
