Led Fridman
Similar to creating a topic for Washington Journal I'm creating one for Lex Fridman for his podcasts that I think would be of interest and appealing to those here.
I like them because they are quite long and since they are all talk / discussion they are excellent to listen to while I am doing no mind work on my property.
Here is one I am in the middle of listening.

Lex Fridman is excellent.
This is a complete 180 from my previous position about him, which is that I thought he was really boring as an interviewer and monotone. I had grown too acclimated to Joe Rogan's more energetic style of delivery. However, since Rogan's switch to Spotify I've been giving other podcasts a second look.
Man, I was wrong about Fridman. He has a strong focus on science and technology oriented guests, and his knowledge about these topics far surpasses Rogan. This makes his question and discussions about topics such as simulation theory and AGI much more deep than Rogan simply saying "It's entirely possible!" every 15 minutes.
Fridman's interviews with Sean Carroll, Brian Greene, and Nick Bostrom are particularly interesting IMHO.

The first time I listened to him was when he interviewed Ray Dallio. And, I had a similar impression. How is this boring guy in the white shirt and dark suit qualified to be asking the highly esteemed Ray Dallio. It was shortly after that I got my answer.
He is from Russia. Teaches at MIT and has a computer science background. Definitely my #1 podcaster by far.

What is your definition of a group?
51 million Americans have an IQ less than 85, which makes it quite difficult for each of them to deal with daily life.

Love Douglas Murray. I haven’t read ‘War on the West’ but I recommend ‘The Madness of Crowds’ from a few years back. It is very ‘The Left is Eating Itself.’yankees60 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 8:46 am …

This is a real nit, but why not change the thread title to Lex Fridman so we don’t look like a bunch of rubes (proposed in honor of Reub)?

Have not. The title with the subject matter did not appeal to me.

Re: Led Fridman
I've been hearing little of Lex F lately.
He got heavy play when the weather was conducive to being outside and I was doing a lot of physical work, leaving my ears and mind totally available to concentrate on his podcast.
Never the case when I am inside the house, like now, as my mind gets occupied by things like this.

Re: Led Fridman
Interacting in the forum. Reading what others posts and then responding like this. When doing either my mind does not allow me to hear anything that is playing on a podcast (or anything else). So I only listen to his podcasts when my mind will not be occupied with anything else.

I had known little of Donald Trump and had had no exposure to him prior to him running for president.
Prior to listening to the above all I knew about K West was that he was some form of entertainer. Had never heard him do anything.
I did find out that he is about the 9th richest black person in the world.
You'd wonder, though, how he got there on the basis of this interview.
Les is the biggest sweetheart going. This was the first time I ever saw him get angry, which he did every time K West said, 'The Jews."
Lex is a Jewish Russian and he pounced on K West every time he made reference to "The Jews." But, Lex being Lex he did it with a smile on his face.
It was an entertaining interview.

Re: Led Fridman
Now this was Lex's longest interview ever.
A FULL:
7 hours
47 minutes
52 seconds
!!!!!
Listened to it all between yesterday and today while I was doing mindless work on the computer which left my mind able to concentrate on what they were saying.

I think most here would agree with the views expressed by the interviewee (who I'd never heard of prior to listening to the podcast).
